About the Behavioral Health Research Lab:The BHRL team conducts research with Veterans with chronic medical conditions, including chronic pain, Gulf War Illness, and other complex medically-unexplained syndromes. Our research focuses on understanding Veterans’ views of their health and using this information to develop behavioral interventions to improve management of health concerns. We also test how to implement these behavioral interventions in the VA. Areas of special focus (and potential areas of research) include behavioral treatment for chronic pain, suicide treatment/prevention, mental health service delivery through video and internet-based interventions, health education, implementation of behavioral treatments, and patient-provider communication. https://www.mcandrewhealthlab.com/

Position Summary:
- Responsible for providing various treatments within clinical trials for Veterans with pain and exposure concerns.
- Supervises post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students in providing treatments within clinical trials.
- Provides and supervises crisis assessment and intervention within clinical trials.
- Contributes to growing training program of psychology post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students.
- Develops educational trainings for VA providers about complex post-deployment health concerns and environmental exposures.
- Facilitates growth of research laboratory by contributing to manuscripts for publication, presentations at national conferences, research protocols and grant proposals.
- Engages within a multidisciplinary team that includes medical doctors, qualitative researchers, research assistants, study coordinators, psychologists, and nurse practitioners.
- Follows standards for human research protections and regulatory guidelines as established by national organizations, oversight committees, and the local Institutional Review Board.
- The Behavioral Health Research Laboratory is growing and we expect future leadership opportunities in research and education within the team.
- This position is located in East Orange New Jersey and is not remote.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- APA accredited Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
- Licensed
- At least 5 years of clinical or research experience
- Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups
